Heiko Schmidt Appointed Interim CEO of Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging NA

  • Mercedes-Benz veteran Heiko Schmidt to become Interim CEO of Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging, bringing over 25 years of experience in the charging, mobility and automotive industries, and a sharp focus on customer experience.  
  • Andrew Cornelia transitions out of the company at his own request after overseeing the launch and initial growth of Mercedes-Benz’s own North American charging network across the country.

Mercedes-Benz is announcing a leadership transition at Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging NA (Mercedes-Benz HPC NA). Effective December 1, Heiko Schmidt will become the interim CEO of Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging. He will succeed Andrew Cornelia who will transition out of the company effective November 30, 2025. A long-term succession plan will be announced in the coming months.

Heiko Schmidt most recently served as Head of Growth at Mercedes-Benz HPC NA, where he led brand positioning, customer acquisition, market expansion, and network optimization initiatives to accelerate revenue growth. Prior to that, he spent over a decade with Mercedes-Benz USA, overseeing consumer charging strategies for both public and home electric vehicle infrastructure. He also directed product strategy for the company’s EV portfolio and spearheaded the CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Services, Electric) initiative, managing key projects focused on EQ Readiness and Connected Car technologies. Earlier in his tenure, he served as U.S. Brand Manager for Mercedes-AMG. Schmidt began his career in product management at Mercedes-Benz AG (then Daimler AG) Headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany.
